The Wetland Forest Initiative, a project catalyzed and coordinated by Dogwood Alliance, is a broad and diverse coalition of partners and organizations across the South to carry out a simple vision. Abundant wetland forests for healthy human and natural communities.

As the Wetland Forest Initiative, our mission is to conserve, restore, and improve Southern wetland forests to strengthen our communities through science-based actions, diverse partnerships, and citizen and landowner engagement.

As a collaboration of diverse organizations and agencies, we will strive to:

 – Elevate wetland forests as a national conservation priority

 – Identify opportunities for restoration and conservation

 – Work with landowners and others to implement sound management practices on working lands

 – Support increased incentives and funding to expand the range of wetland forests

 – Work with local communities, to increase resilience, diversify economic opportunities and enhance quality of life

 – Recognize and engage with historically underrepresented citizens and communities

 – Engage and educate citizens about the benefits of wetland forests in their communities

 – Collaborate with communities, landowners, resource managers, scientists, government agencies, and industries
